Freely parameterizable ERP systems are the exception to the total of approx. 200 ERP or PPS systems (PPS = production planning and control systems) on the German-speaking market. There are systems for small companies, for large companies, for producers, for sellers, etc. You could say that there is a separate system for every occasion. Nevertheless, some systems stand out from this crowd. These are the few freely parameterizable ERP systems, i.e. those that can be adapted to every company.
You have to determine which system you need right from the start. If my processes are complex and far from any standard, I have to choose a freely parameterizable system. But this also has disadvantages. Such systems do not work directly “out of the box”, but have to be configured and parameterized. So it is adapted step by step to your own company. In the end, the result exactly reflects the company. This ranges from the internal workflows, the fields of the database to the entire logic of the system.
In any case, the system should include a complete inventory control system and the corresponding financial management of the respective country. But components such as production planning, project management and an extensive CRM system should also be available. Human resources systems and DMS (Document Management Systems) are optional components.
